Intro to Cartooning
Instructor: Josh Usmani
When: Saturdays, November 2 - December 14; 10:00am - Noon
This course will cover a wide range of cartooning practices including character creation/development (people, animals, fictional creatures, inanimate objects etc.), backgrounds/scenery, narrative storytelling, caricatures, observational drawing from life, various demos (colored pencil, watercolor, pen/brush and ink, scratchboard, etc.), group critiques, guest artists and more! By the end of each session, students will leave having created at least one original work of art. By the end of the full course, students who attend regularly will complete a comic strip, comic book or piece/series of "Pop Art". Each lesson will build towards this final project, but each lesson could also stand alone for students who cannot attend regularly.
Fee: $10/class or $60 for all 7 classes
Pottery Open Studio
Instructors: Eileen Sheehan and Jayson Hayes
When: Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 - 9:00pm
For all levels, from beginner through advanced. Learn a variety of ceramic techniques, including hand-building, throwing on a potter's wheel and glazing methods. You may work on projects of your choice. Glazes, tools and firing are provided. Two types of clay are available for purchase.
Ages: All. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Studio Fee: $8/person ($6/hour if you prepay for a punch card of 10 hours)
Clay Fee: $15 for 25lb. bag of clay

When: Thursdays 10:00am - 3:00pm
Learn pastel drawing and watercolor techniques, as well as painting with oils and/or acrylics on canvas. There will also be opportunities for pleine aire painting.
